There are five main destinations in Queensland for visitors, each of which offers its own highlights and attractions:

  1. Gold Coast

The beautiful Gold Coast is particularly famous for its stunning beaches; there are more than a dozen of them along the coastline. This makes the Gold Coast a laid-back destination popular with surfers and sun-worshippers, but it is also ideal for families, who take advantage of the theme parks as well as the beaches. Movie World and Sea World are highlights here, as well as the exciting rollercoasters at Dreamworld.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy the Sky Point Climb, which takes you to the top of the Q1 building, where you can enjoy panoramic views from 270 metres above ground level.

  1. Brisbane

The capital of Queensland is a vibrant city that attracts travellers interested in arts and culture, due to the range of galleries, museums and theatres located on South Bank. The city also offers plenty of excellent dining in the trendy restaurants along the waterfront.

There are also a number of attractions for nature-lovers here, including the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and the nearby World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests.

  1. Cairns

Cairns attracts lovers of wildlife, with one attraction standing out above all others – the Great Barrier Reef. This is the world’s largest coral reef, one of Australia’s most-visited attractions. Snorkelling here gives you the opportunity to get close to a wide variety of marine life.

Cairns is also an ideal location for those wanting to find out more about indigenous history and culture, thanks to the wide variety of tours on offer.

  1. Port Douglas

The intimate setting of Port Douglas attracts wealthy travellers, including A-list celebrities. It offers plenty of attractions, including world-class dining, boutique shopping, and the golden sands of Four Mile Beach.

Port Douglas is also an ideal destination for visiting the Great Barrier Reef or visiting the ancient Daintree Rainforest. This hugely popular destination allows you to encounter fascinating flora and fauna and is home to the iconic cassowary.

Noosa attracts a wide variety of people due to its diverse attractions. Nature-lovers come to visit the stunning scenery of Noosa National Park, which offers excellent walking and wildlife-spotting, while popular Hastings Street provides fine dining and shopping in an upmarket setting.
